Mr. Peanubutter in Bojack Horsman on netflix

Mr. Peanutbutters home in Bojack Horseman on Netflix is remarkbale!

Door, Slam! Mr. Peanutbutters house has become automated in season 6 of Bojack Horseman. Bojack horseman is a brilliant deep and hilarious show well worth the time investment. However I’m not writing a  review of the show, I’m just eluding to a very interesting aspect they added to this season in regards to home automation. The show this season was clearly making fun of IOT (internet of things) fully connected homes that are becoming interconnected with the world wide web, however in doing so they may have stumbled upon how these devices should work.

An Important part to using the light feature is to label the rooms in the app correctly, as well as making sure you have a voice assistant in each room or have Alexa or google home connected to your phone. Putting this in every room is essential to building the habit. to pull that one-off, however.ing music. I think a big part of that has to do with the fact that people 1) need more education on how to use these devices and 2) don’t trust the other features offered. I know personally I’ve had little luck with siri and its ability to be patient and fully understand what I’m asking for. I found that most of the time it’s faster to just do the action manually instead of getting angry at an inanimate object for not understanding me. I have enough stress starting a company, and I don’t need to increase the risk of me throwing my phone against the wall.

Probably not, robots will do it all for us, have you seen spot by boston dynamics [add link]? Despite that, the more simple features like this can definitely help us organize our lives and make them more efficient. From my research I’ve found that voice assistants are rarely ever used for more than playing music. I think a big part of that has to do with the fact that people 1) need more education on how to use these devices and 2) don’t trust the other features offered. So coming back around to Mr. Peanutbutters house, what I believe needs to be done is the actions must be simplified to This… do that. Alexa, turn the lights on. Google, turn on the TV. Now, obviously this is how a lot of these home automation products already operate, yet most people don’t use it like this. It’s mainly about helping people develop the habit of using them in this manner. When you turn lights on with a switch your whole life it’s difficult to start asking a black cylinder the blinks blue lights at you to do it for you.

One possible solution for this example is to place a cardboard box around the light switches so you’re forced to use the assistant to operate your lights. If you want it to look better you could always 3d print a box to screw on the switch. Might take learning a new skill to pull that one off however.

bit.

From there as more and more devices become connected we’ll use assistants to make aspects of our homes more and more relieving. Such as “Alexa, turn on the shower and heat to 85 degrees.” or “Ok Google, bidet on. Ok Google, bidet off. Okay Google, Flush toilet.”

How exciting is living in the future when you don’t have to flush your own shit anymore?
