As a kid, I fell in love with the concept of cities. I always liked drawing them and had artwork of cities hung on my wall. To this day I have city art hung in my apartment. I always wanted to live in a big city, hence why I Love living in Phoenix so much.
Moving to Phoenix was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Destiny brought me here, or at least that’s what I tell people to make the story more interesting… or was it really destiny?
Anyhow, I remember reading Think and Grow Rich on the drive from Fort Collins Colorado thinking to myself, for the first time in my life I have the opportunity to completely reinvent myself. And over the course of the last 8ish years, I’ve managed to do that. Boy, did it have its ups and its downs, but I can say I like myself more than I did back then… which isn’t hard, I really hated myself back then. But glad to be where I am now, and grateful every day to have moved here and to have met the people I’ve met because of having moved here.
Cities to me are the best human invention. Places made just for people to thrive, connect, experience, and well, do things. I love studying urban design as well as architecture. Learning about how buildings are designed and built, and then how to create great cities and spaces for people just brings me so much joy and excitement.
Passion for friendship
I care deeply for my friends. Aside from murder, there’s little I wouldn’t do for them. Friends are the people who resonate with you that you get to select to spend time with and experience life with. I’ve been extremely lucky to have found some amazing friends here in Phoenix who I build-up, and who build me up.
I have big plans to one day be able to take them all on an all-expenses-paid trip to LA or somewhere fun to just hang out, have a great time and, create some weird unique experiences for them.
The idea for relief was spurred from my desire to be closer to my friends. Instead of spending 5 million on a home I want and will buy/build a home for each of my friends that are next to one another. This way we don’t have to travel 30 minutes to see each other once a month, if that. I know that seems off-topic from organizing and custom builds, but my 10-year vision encapsulates all of it.
relief is built around friendship and community at its core and that’s largely because of the level of importance of value it is to me.
